    The Global Center is situated in the south of downtown Chengdu. As the biggest stand-alone building in the world, it covers an area of 87 hectares(214 acres). The building is 100 meters(328 feet) in height. It occupies a gross floor area of 176 hectares(435 acres). The second largest stand-alone building in the world is the Pentagon of which the gross floor area is 60.8 hectares(150 acres). Chengdu Global Center houses a department store, a hotel, a water park, a cinema and restaurants. The project was begun in 2008, and completed in 2013.

    Chengdu Global Center is the largest shopping mall in Eastern Asia. It has four floors. Both domestic and overseas brands can be found in the department store.

    The restaurants serve people a variety of food, like Chinese food, Western-styled food and Thai food.

    The hotel is called the Intercontinental Chengdu Global Center. It is a member of IHG, and is a five-star hotel.

    The water park is called the Paradise Island Ocean Park. It is one of the largest indoor man-made beach in the world.

    There is a glass bridge on the fourth floor. The bridge is 5 meters(16 feet) in width, 20 meters(66 feet) in length and 60 meters(197 feet) above the ground.
