The Yangtze River rises on Qinghai-Tibet High Plateau and extends far beyond Chongqing, covering a distance of 6,397 kilometers(3,975 miles) from its headwaters to estuary. It is the third longest river in the world. The Basin of Yangtze River is one of the cradles of Chinese civilization. Many of China’s major cities are located in the basin, such as Chongqing, Wuhan, Changsha, Nanchang, Nanjing, Suzhou and Shanghai. Most of those cities have existed for thousands of years. The Yangtze Basin is one of the most beautiful and attractive destinations in China. The region is rich in sightseeing resources and attracts tourists with its dramatic landscape and splendid culture. Some of the most famous attractions in the Yangtze Basin are the Three Gorges, Zhangjiajie National Park, Dazu Grottoes, Wudang Mountain and Huangshan Mountain.
