How to get to Chengdu?

    Chengdu is the primary aviation hub in Western China. By the end of 2018, more than 180 domestic air routes and 100 internationals have been operating in Chengdu. The network covers Europe, North America, Oceania, and Middle East with linked destinations around the world, such as Paris, Landon, Melbourne, San Francisco, Frankfurt, etc. Travelers can fly or take the bullet trains to Chengdu from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xi'an and some other cities within Mainland China.

Is Chinese visa necessary for visiting Chengdu?

    Since January 1st, 2019, China’s 144-hour visa-free transit policy is carried out in Chengdu, to facilitate international travelers. Assuming the direct transit airport is Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and having a confirmed airline ticket, foreign passport holders can stay in Chengdu for 6 days without a visa. This policy is open to 53 qualified countries such as US, UK, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Russia, Vietnam, Austria, etc. Those who plan a trip to the out-skirt prefectures in Sichuan province still need to apply for a visa, like Jiuzhaigou Valley, Siguniang Mountain, Daocheng Arden, Kangding, etc.

What’s the weather like in Chengdu? When is the best time to visit Chengdu?

    The weather in Chengdu is humid and mild. Travelers can visit Chengdu all year around. It is very pleasant to visit Chengdu from March to June. During Spring and early Summer, Chengdu is refreshed by gentle breeze and warm sunshine, decorated with verdant trees and colorful flowers. During Autumn, between September and November, it is best to avoid the National Holiday, which commemorates the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). It lasts from October 1st to 7th. Giant pandas usually fall in love between March and June. And their pregnancy period lasts in diverse length, varying from three months to five months. The best time to see the newly born baby pandas is between July and October.
